Portraiture is the creation of a singe portrait where there is one person in the portrait at one time. It is an representation of  person. these portrsits usally tell a story bout the person and how they feel.


 
Portrait taken by Diane Arbus.Diane Arbus was a unique American photographer who took a vast amount of different portraits.She never took a "normal portrait", she always took pictures of dwarfs,transvestites,nudist and circus performers.In the end she ended up taking her own life.




Portrait taken by Walker Evans. Walker Evans was a very smart, and he took many unique portraits of the Great Depression. Many included portraits of poor familys.Most of his work today is pictured up in many popular museums.He too was American.















Portrait taken Richard Avendon.Richard was a American photograper. He defined the style and beauty of photography.





Portrait taken by Tony Vaccaro.Vaccaro was best known for taking European photos.Mainly in Germany after World War 2.Then after he finished taking many photo's of the War, where his portraits were very popular he starting taking photos for "fashion" in the U.S for magazines.

Lawrence Donald "Larry" Clark (born January 19, 1943) is an American film director, photographer, writer and film producer who is best known for the movie Kids and his photography book Tulsa. His most common subject is youth who casually engage in illegal drug use, underage sex and violence, and who are part of a specific subculture, such as surfing, punk rock or skateboarding.  (Wikipedia)


Context

We find portraits in many places these days. They have grown in popularity.It is now common to see portraits in houses to make them look brighter and they usally show there personallity.
You would also find portraits in gallerys, people visit these not only to enjoy the "fine art" but also to get an idea of what they would like in there home or what they would wish to paint theirselves.


Techniques
 Methods for creating portraits :

Creating Self-Portraits is a simple method that assists clients to examine themselves from different aspects.

  1. Tom you do a really good job of summarising the photographers. You need to finish this post through talking about Clarke’s work may be make the links between the works mentioning the journey that portraiture has taken (Away from the person who is in the picture and into the hands of the Photographer)
    You also need to add the sections Context and Techniques in them discuss where we might find portraits and under techniques describe some of the methods for creating portraits i.e. the traditional aspect of portraits (lengthways not horizontal)
